Ever Wonder? Ever Question? Read the story and then answer those questions

A newly wed couple were in the kitchen fixing dinner. The young bride was preparing a pot roast to put in the oven. She cut both ends off the pot roast prior to placing it in the roasting pan. This puzzled the recently married groom as he had never noticed his own mother doing this act when she was preparing a pot roast. So innocently, the groom asked his wife " why did you cut off the ends of the pot roast prior to placing it in the pan"? The bride responded, "why, I guess I don't really know. My mother always did it that way and that's how I learned it". Maybe it allows free travel of the juices through the pot roast during the cooking process, she replied. Well, now the groom was curious so he made it a point to ask the same question of his mother-in-law. His mother-in-law responded in kind, "I really never gave it a thought, my own mother did it that way. As far as juices flowing through the pot roast, I don't know, maybe"? So now, the groom was on a mission knowing the true answer rested with Grandma. On the very next visit, he posed the very same question to Grandma. "Grandma, your daughter and granddaughter both cut off the ends of a pot roast prior to placing it in the roasting pan. This intrigued me and I asked thm why. Neither one was really certain but they said they learned it from you." Grandma looked a the young man and said, "well I have no idea why they cut the ends off a pot roast, but I did it because I never had a pan big enough for a pot roast."
So, there we have the answer..........do you know why you do things the way you do? Are your practices still justified? Needed? Efficient? Is there a better way?
